Anarchy Strawberry Jam

This beer-jam recipe has many uses….as you will see in our next post. But before we show you the most epic way to include it in a meal, we first have to tell you how to make it. Strawberries in the summertime are freaking amazing. Combine them with beer and make a jam – even better. Also, who would’ve though making jam is so darn easy? It literally takes 30 minutes from start to finish.  The beer we used – Anarchy by 4 Noses Brewing – is an hoppy strong ale that is slightly sweet with nutty biscuit flavors….and it’s absolutely delish. The problem is, Anarchy is exactly as its name describes, a rebel. Tommy, the head brewer at 4 Noses, says its set to change each time it’s brewed. So, if you’re not able to grab it before the recipe changes, go find something that’s a bit hoppy and fruity and you should be good to go.

Agave Wheat Peach Tart

Drink and Spoon is finally back and we are bringing you tons of good stuff! The first recipe will be this delectable peach tart, with peaches caramelized in Agave Wheat by Breckenridge Brewery. In my opinion, Agave Wheat is the perfect summertime brew. It’s a slightly sweet wheat beer with some overlying citrus flavors – kind of like drinking the sunshine. Using it to caramelize one of my favorite summertime fruits turned out to be a fantastic idea. The wheat flavors really came through and mixed wonderfully with the sweet peaches. I’d pretty much serve this peach tart at any summer picnic and I suggest you do as well.

Sweet Chilli Fried Chicken and Buttermilk Chive Waffles paired with Rauch Geek Breakfast

My birthday was a few weeks ago and my dad got me a Walmart gift card. Some people may think this is weird, some may think it is awesome. I’m one of the latter. Walmart has so many cooking appliances and they are incredibly cheap. Naturally, the first things I bought were a deep fryer and a waffle maker because I was trying to be healthy…not. I was determined to go home and make chicken and waffles. The one dilemma with chicken and waffles is that they take all day to make, but the waiting and anticipation of deliciousness makes them taste that much better. I knew I didn’t want my chicken and waffles to be the same old boring chicken and waffles you can get at any southern restaurant. I needed to step it up a notch. What better way to do that than with sweet chilli sauce? This is probably one of my favorite condiments/additions/sauces. Its such an great ingredient too because it’s sweet and spicy character makes it versatile and easy manipulate in a variety of dishes. To meld the waffles with the chicken, I decided on the addition of chives and garlic powder. The savory character of the waffles and the sweet-n-spicy chicken worked perfectly together and looked gorgeous on the plate. It also put me into a food coma. If you too want to go into a food coma of pure bliss, try out the sweet chili fried chicken and buttermilk chive waffles. You will not be disappointed – unless you’re a vegetarian and in that case, start eating meat.
